Attractions to do Around

El Limon Waterfalls

The waterfalls near El Limon are a beautiful attraction and the natural pool at the base provides for a refreshing swim after a short hike from the end of the horse trail. You can hike all the way into the falls (with or without a guide) or travel most of the round-trip by horseback with a guide. Horseback tours can include a lunch package and the small park entrance fee (50 pesos).

Los Haitises National Park

The explorers in the bottom right corner enjoy the cool air in the caves of Los Haitises National Park. The excursion guides explain the history behind the pictographs and petroglyphs in the caves, the nature of the mangroves and identify the variety of birds you’ll see. Excursions include, land and sea transport, park entrance fee and lunch is about 75$ -85$US.

Las Galeras

Las Galeras: At the tip of the Samana Peninsula this little beach village has a small selection of restaurants and shops and is the best place to get a boat out to Fronton for very good snorkeling or to Rincon beach to avoid the rough road to that beach.

The Road to Las Galeras

The road to Las Galeras offers many scenic points although there are not many restaurants or stores and no gas stations, it is not far from Samana to Las Galeras, about 1 hour without stops, but you are sure to want to stop along the way.

Samaná Town

The town of Samana has a good selection of restaurants and shops and is the capital city of Samana province. The harbour is the starting point for excursions to Cayo Levantado or whale watching (in season).

Playa Coson

Playa Coson is a long stretch of mostly white sand with a few restaurants including one famous for it’s French chef and one for it’s traditional Dominican charm and grilled fish. Connected to Bonita along the shore and only 2 kilometers further along the road.

Playa Bonita

Playa Bonita is a very quiet little golden beach on a small bay just a few kilometers from Las Terrenas. There are a few restaurants along the beach’s brick promenade where vehicles are not allowed to travel.
